A NEW midlife wellness service, delivering menopause coaching for women and business training has been launch by Vale of Clwyd businesswomen.

Ruthin-based brand communication consultant and midlife coach Ruth Astbury and Ceri Lee, yoga and breath specialist, have joined forces to create a series of corporate, community and online workshops to educate, support and coach women to make better lifestyle choices through their midlife and menopause.

This initiative has been fast tracked into action with the news that Alwen Watkin will be joining The Midlife Flow, and be responsible for new business development across eduction and the public sector.

Alwen, who was recently featured alongside Ruth in an ITV Wales News documentary about the lack of menopause provision in North Wales, has 30 years’ experience in education, 25 years in senior management and 12 years as a head teacher.

The team has already run workshops in both Ruthin and Conwy, reaching out to over 100 women in the past two months.

From discussions within the workshops and from feedback questionnaires, there is an unanimous acknowledgement that more needs to be done to support midlife women.

As well as running menopause workshops in the local community and online, they are also offering business wellbeing training with a focus on menopause education and support services.

With menopause awareness becoming mainstream news and a focus on providing more support for women in the menopause, including at work, it is in the employers interests to do more now to create the right working culture for women going through the menopause.

“Our aim is to help businesses understand the changes that women go through during peri-menopause and menopause so that all women are supported in the workplace," said Ruth Astbury.

"We want to help business leaders understand and put in place policies that will help support women in the workplace.”
