IT was a rare old view as the sun came out for enthusiastic photographers in the Vale of Clwyd.

Sunday saw the Ruthin mini photo-marathon being held - and after the recent storms, the sun was out!

This free to enter event asked children, families and adults to spare a few hours and take six photos of Ruthin based on six specific themes to encourage residents and visitors to look more closely at the town.

A part of Ruthin Future - Ruthin Town Council's annual community place planning initiative - mayor Cllr Heather Williams will be involved as the photographs are judged this week, with winners being announced next week.

This is the final week of Ruthin Future, with a number of events still lined up.

On Wednesday, March 2, Ruthin will welcome students and educators from Birmingham School of Architecture.

Following a tour of the town in the morning, students will collaborate with invited community groups and representatives during a workshop to inform their ideas and responses to some key themes they will investigate.

This will be at the Old Courthouse between 1 and 4pm.

Also on March 2, there will be a Bro Rhuthun business evening at the Old Courthouse (6-8pm).

A special AGM will be followed by a business networking forum to understand business views on the town and to share ideas and opportunities to prioritise.

The guest speaker will be Gwyn Roberts, of CE Galeri Caernarfon (formerly Cwmni Tref Caernarfon), sharing his experience establishing and running one of the UK's most innovative community development trusts, now operating with assets of £15m and credited with leading the ongoing renaissance of Caernarfon town centre.

On Thursday, March 3, Ruthin Town Council is inviting local schools to participate in the Ruthin Future initiative by arranging, at suitable times, hosted visits to the Old Courthouse, where pupils can contribute their own ideas about the future of Ruthin.

Then, on Saturday, March 5, there's a coffee morning at the Old Courthouse, hosted by the town council.

It's an opportunity for people to go along and find out how they can join in, help out or become a volunteer at the Old Courthouse.

It will run between 11am and 1pm.

Ruthin Future concludes on Sunday, March 6 (2-3.30pm) with an open presentation to offer insight into two key ambitions that will form part of the Levelling Up bid.

It covers proposals for public realm improvements in the heart of the town and the creation of Parc Clwyd through improvements to Cae Ddol and the network of parks and green spaces in Ruthin.
