THE popular Vale Vintage Machinery Show will make its long-awaited return later this year.

The event, held in Caerwys, has been on a two-year break due to the ongoing restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic.

It will return to Ty Uchaf Farm Caerwys on July 2 and 3 by permission of Elfed and Nerys Thomas and family who have kindly allowed the use of their land for the two day event.

The show promises to be a traditional fun-filled family event hosting a vast array of vintage vehicles from the early days of steam to the internal combustion engine powered cars, motorcycles, tractors and commercial vehicles.

There will be a display of stationary engines which powered many milking parlours and workshops and industries in the past.

There will also be a host of farming implements and machinery on display including steam threshing demonstrations.

Threshing is a traditional mechanized way of separating grain from the straw of corn or other crops. Threshing machines were often seen travelling from farm to farm at harvesting times, in the early years they were powered by traction engines but in later years tractors were used to turn the box as it was known.

The modern day equivalent is the Combine harvester which is the same principle but is also self propelled and requires much less preparation before harvesting the grain.

A nostalgic display of classic campers and caravans will help you relive childhood memories of a holiday by the seaside, the caravans can be seen with period equipment and towing vehicles.

As a family event there will be plenty for the children to do including children’s games and activities, a day of fun for children of all ages.

Highlight of the event will be the steam section from miniature replica’s to full siᴢe traction engines and steam rollers.

Vale vintage Machinery Show organisers have announced that a 1975 replica built to the drawings of Savage Bros Ltd will be in attendance during the show. This engine is unusual as it has its cylinder over the firebox and the steering man stand at the front of the engine.
