AN energetic Vale of Clwyd mayor has been successful in her efforts to raise thousands for charity.

Cllr Heather Williams, the mayor of Ruthin, is raising money for the Vale of Clwyd food bank, Mind and Cancer Research UK during her term in office.

She held a successful mayor's charity dinner earlier this month.

Attended by over 80 guests, it turned out to be an enjoyable and well-organised event.

Over £1,800 was raised in a silent auction, with a further £500 coming in donations.

Meanwhile, £400 of raffle tickets were sold on the night, with some further tickets available from Cllr Williams or The Old Courthouse before the draw takes place on April 25.

Even when things have been a bit quieter, Cllr Williams hasn't been standing still!

Before her term of office ends in May, she has set herself the target of walking a minimum of 6,000 steps - or two-and-a-half miles - each day.

"I'm still doing the daily walking challenge with over 11,000 steps today and now almost £700 donated via Just Giving and offline," added Cllr Williams.
