INTERNATIONAL footballers have been honing their skills on a Vale of Clwyd pitch.

Last week, Finland's national under-18s squad took to Denbigh Town FC's Central Park pitch for a training session.

This was conducted before Finland's match against Wales under-18s at Colliers Park, in Wrexham.

Most of the players in Finland's squad play their football at clubs across Europe, which includes the likes of Chelsea and Hamburg.

The Football Association of Wales had recommended the use of Denbigh's facilities to the Finland FA following the new pitch and drainage system the club installed last summer and the favourable reports on its condition.

This is not just a one-off and over the next few weeks, there will be further such activity at Central Park as the club welcomes other countries to train and play at the ground.

On Monday, the Wales C senior squad was at the ground training in preparation for their game against England C, which will be played in Caernarfon on Wednesday evening.
