MORE than 60 mothers and families in the Vale of Clwyd, and Conwy county have gained vital support so far this year.
This is thanks to the provision of Baby Basics Dyffryn Clwyd.
Now, a Denbigh-based operation is appealing for further help and support from the local community.
Baby Basics UK is a charity that was set up in Sheffield back in 2009 as a response to the growing need for practical help for new mothers unable to afford the basic essentials and equipment necessary to look after their newborns.
By now, there are over 50 branches all over the UK, with the Vale of Clwyd group giving support in the Denbighshire and Conwy area since 2019.
The branch's base is at a practical unit on the industrial estate in Denbigh, with county residents being asked if they're able to help out with donating items such as clothing for newborn babies and children up to the age of three years, snowsuits, muslins, baby towels, sheets, blankets, knitwear and moses baskets.
Second hand items are most welcome, as long as they are clean and undamaged.
Baby Basics Dyffryn Clwyd is in particular need of clothing up to six months, as the past few months have seen a sharp increase in the number of referrals received for newborns.
Heledd Iago, of the Vale of Clwyd branch, said: "We’ve been so busy!
"Thanks to the support of the community, we’ve been able to provide for over 60 families so far in 2022, however we are in need of a continuous supply of donations to be able to sustain our current provision."
There are donation points in Rhyl, Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, St Asaph and Denbigh libraries, Naturally Ethical in Ruthin, and at Unit B10 on the industrial estate in Denbigh on Wednesday mornings.
