A VALE of Clwyd schoolgirl will be donating her long locks for a hugely worthy cause later this week.

Lily Muse, aged 10 and a pupil at Ysgol Frongoch, is to have her impressive hair cut on Thursday, with it then being donated to the Little Princess Trust.

She has already raised hundreds of pounds from the venture and people still have the opportunity to support Lily.

This isn't the first time she has helped out the Little Princess Trust and Lily's mum Yazmin said: "She has done it before, about two-or-three years ago and then she said she wanted to grow her hair again!

"She's had the occasional trim since then."

Lily has so far raised almost £400.

There is a fundraising page at https://gofund.me/d623503b while a paper sponsorship form is in the Glass Onion Cafe, in Denbigh, which is owned and run by Lily's grandmother Sue.

Sue said: "[We're] so very proud of her.

"She is a beautiful, caring young girl. She will be smiling and so exited to know that she will be helping other young children and hopefully raising money for such a brilliant cause."

Lily will be having her hair cut at E Clipz, in Denbigh, on Thursday afternoon.

At present, her hair is over 12 inches long!

The Little Princess Trust was established in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, their friends and Hereford Cathedral Junior School.

In 2004 Hannah was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour. Hannah loved her hair and losing it was very traumatic for her.

Her parents, Wendy and Simon, searched high and low to find a wig suitable for Hannah, during her treatment. When they found one, it had a hugely positive effect on Hannah.

Tragically, Hannah passed away in 2005 and with so many kind offers of financial and practical help, Wendy and Simon felt the most fitting tribute would be to launch a charity dedicated to providing real hair wigs for children and young people.

Since then, they have provided thousands of real hair wigs to sick children and young people, aged up to 24 years across the UK and Ireland.
