Awarding time for Denbigh Workshop founder Tracy?

Finalists of the 2022 Womenspire Awards have been announced - and the list include Tracy Spencer Jones, from Denbigh.

West End actor and Denbigh Workshop founder Tracy said: "I'm delighted that I've been shortlisted for the Chwarae Teg womenspire leader category."

This is the seventh year in a row the Womenspire Awards will be taking place.

Chwarae Teg staff and the judging panel have been moved by the stories from the shortlisted nominations with the 2022 finalists being whittled down from hundreds of entries from across Wales.

The leader award celebrates women who are successfully leading by example.

The winner will be someone who has not only been successful in her own right, but has used the opportunities provided by the position she has reached to support and mentor other women.

Tracy Spencer Jones founded the Denbigh Workshop to use theatre and arts to develop the individual, their inter-reaction and contribution to community and enable individuals to fulfil their potential.

Tracy encourages as well as educates and is an indefatigable fundraiser whose efforts result in opportunities for inclusion that would otherwise be denied to many within the community due to financial constraints.

She brings a ‘can do’ attitude to all that she undertakes and makes others believe in themselves and achieve their ambitions whether that be in employment, theatre or in life.

Other Chwarae Teg leader category nominees are Sian Morgan (Hafan Cymru), Louise Phillips and Marion Davies.

Now in their seventh year the awards will, for the first time ever, become a hybrid event.

They will take place on September 29 at the Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay, while Womenspire’s media partner, ITV Cymru Wales, will simultaneously broadcast the ceremony online via its Facebook Live and Twitter sites.

The event has only been run ‘virtually’ for the last two years due Covid-19, but will be back with a bang – with Andrea Byrne hosting an epic night of inspirational stories and entertainment.

Chwarae Teg chief executive Cerys Furlong said: "Womenspire is an awards ceremony like no other.

"Finalists are recognised for achievements from all aspects of life and from across Wales, yet they all have something very much in common – they have all gone above and beyond to make a real positive difference to their own lives and the lives of others.

"We want to shine a light on their remarkable accomplishments, as they can so often go unnoticed.

"At Chwarae Teg we want to applaud what they’ve done and hold them up as role models.

“It feels extra special this year as our finalists will be able to join us in person while a virtual audience of thousands will get to share the evening with us from the comfort of their own homes or workplaces."
