A TOWN council has paid its tribute following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen passed away on Thursday at the age of 96.

Denbigh mayor Cllr Alyn Ashworth said: "On behalf of the councillors and officials of Denbigh Town Council I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the death of the head of their family, and our Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"She has represented the United Kingdom for over 70 years in a manner which has been outstanding and I know that her guidance will be sorely missed.

"However I have confidence that King Charles III will assume her duties with equal diligence."

There will be a special civic service this Sunday, September 18 at St Mary’s Church, Denbigh.

The event in remembrance of the Queen will start at 6pm and all are welcome to attend.
