KIND-HEARTED youngsters in Denbighshire have been raising funds for a worthy cause.

An incredible £1,700 was raised by pupils from St Asaph's Ysgol Glan Clwyd in a matter of a few hours in aid of the Enfys Ward at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

Pupils dug deep into their pockets to contribute to this worthy cause.

Sixth form pupils led the activity and arranged a pop-up cake stall, hair plaiting and face painting station, in addition to a raffle, as well as name the teddy.

Pupils from all years went to school dressed in a top of a specific rainbow colour, donating £1 for the privilege to do so.

A bright human rainbow was created by asking pupils to stand on the hall steps, year by year, colour by colour and the result of re-creating a rainbow was striking.

Amelia Duffy, a year 13 pupil, said: "We enjoyed the challenge of working together to ensure a successful day for the worthy cause.

"Everyone was so generous from the donating of the cakes to the kind contributions given. Ysgol Glan Clwyd pupils love supporting our fundraising days and it creates a positive environment throughout the school."

Headteacher Sian Alwen added: "Ward Enfys and its work of supporting cancer patients/those within our community who are receiving cancer treatment is very close to our hearts at Ysgol Glan Clwyd.

"This forms an important part of our close link with the community we serve and an event like this develops pupils’ compassion and understanding of what can be a difficult time for families.

"The end result of our Enfys day was very pleasing as everyone contributed so positively."
