A TRUCK-LOAD of money was raised at a festive event.

There were around 150 vehicles on show at the popular convoy of lights held in Ruthin after the town's Christmas lights were switched-on.

Trucks came from far and wide to participate in the event and the total raised was a brilliant £2,136.

One American truck travelled all the way from Kent for the occasion, with others coming from Anglesey, Shropshire and Cheshire, in addition to those from the Ruthin area.

Participating in the event were trucks, vans and even a couple of vintage tractors!

Local tyre fitting company DMH Tyres, from Caerwys, who have branches all over North Wales and the north west of England, had four vans on the convoy.

Some of the large fleets that attended included D&M Jones of Caerwys, who were leading the convoy, while others that attended with a large number of vehicles representing their companies were Dromgoole and C&H Roberts.

All three companies had put in considerable efforts to decorate and light up their vehicles.

Frank Jones and son, of Derwen, had three vehicles in attendance. This company is celebrating its centenary in 2023.

Esmor Davies, of Ruthin - known to many as Es Bach - had his vintage digger in the convoy.

This vintage digger was restored in memory of his late daughter and Mr Davies has supported many events throughout 2022.

The money raised from the convoy of lights will go to the RNLI, Ruthin young carers and Ruthin Forward.

Special thanks go to Ruthin Forward for assisting the event, all drivers for participating and donating towards charities, and the Ruthin community for their continued support throughout the route.
