THOUSANDS of pounds were raised thanks to a Denbighshire festive initiative.

Everyone involved with Gofal Dydd y Waen Day Care, at Waen, near St Asaph, were delighted that the total raised at the Christmas market was £7,165.90.

Those attending, of all ages, had plenty to see and buy, enjoying stalls that included new gifts, Christmas crafts, cards, toys, a chocolate tombola and the famous Waen Christmas puddings!

Children had a special visit from Father Christmas and enjoyed making crafts in the craft corner.

A Gofal Dydd y Waen Day Care spokeswoman said: "The organising team wish to thank everyone who has donated, contributed beautiful items to sell, sold raffle tickets on our behalf (including Morrisons at Denbigh) and to those who supported on the day."

Gofal Dydd y Waen Day Care opened back in 2011 and now offers twice weekly day care, free of charge for anyone of any age living with serious illness or disability.

It also provides free services to those living in the community, including complementary therapies and music therapy.

The day care relies completely on donations and needs to raise at least £35,000 each year to continue to do its work.
