An injured mountain biker in Llandegla Forest was taken to hospital by a HM Coastguard helicopter. 

North East Wales Search and Rescue reported that at lunch time Saturday, January 14, they were contacted by North Wales Police following the report of a potentially badly injured mountain biker at Llandegla Forest.

Team members or the rescue serviceresponded in two Landrovers to near the incident site, which was deep in the woodland.

The casualty was provided with pain relief and splinting, before being stretchered to an open area where they could be winched aboard a HM Coastguard helicopter to be taken to hospital.

A spokesperson at North East Wales Search and Rescue said: "Thanks to the people who first came across the casualty, including a local retired Paramedic, who is also an ex Team Member. They provided important information and initial first aid."

The rescue team shared a video of winching activity from the rescue.
