HISTORY enthusiasts braved the wintry conditions for the latest Denbighshire society event.

Earlier this month, 60 Cymdeithas Hanes Lleol Llandyrnog & Llangwyfan Local History Society members and visitors listened to a talk entitled 'Landed Estates in Wales: History and Significance'.

This was delivered by Dr Shaun Evans and the event took place in Llandyrnog Village Hall.

Shaun, who grew up on the Mostyn estate in Flintshire, is director of the Institute for the Study of Welsh Estates (ISWE) based at Bangor University.

He gave an overview of the role of estates and country houses in the histories, cultures and landscapes of Wales together with their impacts and influences, which were often profound, up until their break-up and demise in the early-20th century.
