VOLUNTEERS are being sought to give a helping hand with a popular summer event.

This year's Denbigh Carnival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 24 and organisers are looking for interested people who would be able to help out on the day as volunteers or marshals.

In a message on Facebook, Denbigh Carnival said: "Looking for help on the carnival day, could you spare an hour or 2?

"Please get in touch by messaging this page. All help greatly appreciated!"

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Denbigh Carnival was missing from the events calendar for three years from 2019.

However, last June saw a big return for the event - and the crowds turned out in force.

The carnival procession departed from the council office at Caledfryn.

Heading down Smithfield Road, the procession then passed through Lenten Pool, over the High Street and down Vale Street, before turning onto Ruthin Road and Park Street to enter Middle Park, next to Denbigh Town Football Club.

The coronation of Charles III won't be the only major royal event this summer!

The event is also on the lookout for children who would like to become part of the 2023 Denbigh Carnival royalty.

Girls between the ages of 11 and 18 years are invited to put their name forward as carnival queen, with other royal roles including carnival prince (8-11 years), junior prince (3-7 years), princess (8-10 years), rosebud (6-7 years) and carnival petal (3-5 years).

Organisers state that all categories will be selected at random.

People interested in registering should e-mail denbighcarnival123@gmail.com before March 12.

Further information is also available on the Denbigh Carnival 2023 Facebook page.
