A NEW coach depot could be built in St Asaph.

Applicant Mr Ryan Owen of M & H Coaches has submitted a planning application to Denbighshire County Council, seeking permission to build the depot at St Asaph Business Park.

Mr Owen wants to relocate the company’s bus depot from Trefnant to Plot C2A at the business park on Carlton Court.

If the plans get the go-ahead, the depot will feature a main workshop with a capacity for two coaches.

The general building will be characterised by wooden or composite insulated metal cladding, ranging from one to three storeys, with a mix of windowed office spaces and enclosed warehouses.

There will also be offices, a visitor reception area, unisex bathrooms, showers, bathrooms, and changing rooms.

A wash bay, storage areas, staff room, canteen, and sheltered cycle storage are also planned.

According to the planning application, 26 full-time workers will be employed at the depot and 15 part-time staff.

The depot will open Monday to Friday between 7am to 7pm. Weekend and bank holiday opening times aren’t listed in the application.

As part of the planning application, a noise assessment was carried out.

In summary, the assessment concludes that noise from the depot is unlikely to bother residents as there aren’t any properties nearby.

Denbighshire County Council has asked for a noise assessment, though, to measure the potential effect on other businesses.

The potential noise impacts of the proposed development have then been assessed considering potential noise from fuelling vehicles, jet washing facilities, and vehicle movements.

But the assessment concludes that there will be no significant noise from the proposed depot.

The planning application will likely be debated by Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee at a future council meeting.
