A WARM welcome has been given to a Denbighshire funding boost.

Llanelidan Community Council and the Llanelidan Village Hall Committee have been successful in receiving a grant of £3,500 from Warm Welcome to open for 12 sessions throughout March.

Dave Roberts, chair of the community Council, said: “We are excited to have received the funding.

"A lot of work goes into the application process, especially for such a small village like ours but to have been awarded the funding is just brilliant.”

There are big plans for the village, with the sessions being manned by volunteers who will be there to offer a warm cup of tea or coffee and plenty of biscuits.

The group welcome people who may want somewhere warm to read a book, work or socialise. Project lead Neil Gallagher added: “We know things are hard for people at the moment.

"We are hoping that a warm, safe place to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat will help.”

The group is grateful for the support it has received from villagers offering to help facilitate the sessions.

Cllr Leaf Petit said: “It amazes me that even in these difficult times, people will go out of their way to help others.”

Llanelidan is supported by the Fflecsi bus service, which the project team is hoping will widen opportunities for others outside of the village to attend.

There will be sessions on March 17, 18, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28 and 30, all between 10am and 3pm.
