IT was an extra special Mother's Day for North Wales residents.

People in Llannefydd - and concert-goers from across North Wales - experienced a unique occasion on Mothering Sunday.

Internationally acclaimed harpist Catrin Finch took the audience by storm when she performed in Llannefydd Parish Church two days after her concert at the British Embassy in Paris. Catrin seems at home wherever she performs.

The music she chose and her introductions to each piece were judged to perfection, and her shifting effortlessly from English to Welsh was much appreciated.

She completely charmed the entire audience, who never felt talked down to, or out of their depth musically, but rather felt included and valued.

Everyone had the opportunity to meet her after the show - whether they were nine or 90.

The concert, which was in aid of Llannefydd Church funds, was supported by the Arts Council of Wales’ Noson Allan scheme.

Organisers have thanked all who supported and enjoyed the excellent event.

The day continued Catrin's support for Llannefydd Church.

A flower festival was held to raise funds for the church last summer.

The theme of the festival was ‘inspirational Welsh women’ and Catrin sent a message of support.

In the message, she said: "All my most colourful best wishes full of hope for change and strength to endure, for a wonderful festival and the future of Llannefydd Church.

"My inspiration comes from people and positivity, and I hope the Church is filled with both."
