THIS May bank holiday weekend saw a consignment of generators begin their journey from North Wales to Lviv in the Ukraine.
The Rotary Club of Denbigh, together with the Denbigh Round Table, collected 12 domestic generators to help the residents of the Ukraine, having previously sent out seven other generators a few weeks ago with the help of Professor Robert and Paula Sells.
This month’s consignments are being transported to the Ukraine by Rotarian Huw Jones of Jones Bros, Ruthin, together with Llanfihangel GM farmer Llyr Jones.
A spokesperson for Denbigh Rotary Club said: "Llyr will also be delivering a Landrover Freelander, a Suzuki pickup truck and an Ifor Williams trailer, together with other small items, while Huw will also be delivering a Nissan Navara pickup. Their journey will be via Dover – Calais, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Poland – a journey of 1456 miles.
"They will then catch a flight home from Krakow."
The Rotary Club of Denbigh have expressed their thanks to the following who have kindly donated generators: Denbigh Round Table; MWS, Ruthin; A & D Motor Cycles/Sam’s Cafe, Denbigh; Woodmen UK; Billy Jenkins, Denbigh and Hywel Watkin, Denbigh.
The spokesperson added: "The Rotary Club are also very grateful to members of the public who have donated money to their charity funds which has supported this venture."
