NEW glamping pods overlooking the beautiful Clwydian Range are planned for Denbigh.

Applicant Mrs Tina Griffiths has submitted a planning application to Denbighshire County Council, seeking permission for a change of use of her garden to provide a ‘high-end’  glamping site.

The 1,143 square metres of land is located at Ty Uchaf, near Pont Ystrad and the junction opposite Tyddyn Rossa Prion, Denbigh.

In a supporting statement to the application, Mrs Griffiths said she believed the land had potential.

“Having seen first-hand the surge in family and friends visiting since the end of the pandemic and the lack of local holiday accommodation available within the area, I believe Ty Uchaf would prove to be a welcoming stay, offering guests the opportunity to stay in a variety of high-end accommodation if the planning was to be granted for two high-end pods, two high-end shepherd’s huts, and one glamping tent,” she wrote.

“Our company, Bryniau Clwyd Luxury Glamping, will now operate from the family home at Ty Uchaf.

“We as a family have a great passion for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside;

therefore our future plans will also include the opportunity for visitors to have walking or trekking holidays which will create further employment opportunities. This will also bring another income stream to the business.”

Mrs Griffiths said she had carried out extensive market research, which identified demand in catering and outdoor tourism, and vowed to employ local tradesman.

She added: “Ty Uchaf is situated in a good area of tourism with picturesque views, public footpaths, and cycling routes which surround the property. The nearby towns of Ruthin and Denbigh offer many amenities and outdoor activity centres.

“The tranquillity the grounds are set in the rear of the property would make the perfect setting for pods and shepherd’s huts. Having the delight of the Clwydian Range on one side and a beautiful sunset on the other would prove appealing to anyone looking for a relaxed, slower pace of life stay.

“The peaceful tranquil setting being complemented with a beautiful sunset would make the site a welcoming peaceful stay for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday busy life.”

If given the go-ahead, the glamping pods will be made from timber cladding and finished in grey UPVC.

The glamping site will require two full-time and three part-time staff.

The planning application will likely be discussed at a future Denbighshire County Council planning committee meeting.
