THE Denbigh Carnival 2023 saw huge crowds attend the town’s procession of floats, Carnival Royalty and performers.

Held on Saturday, 24 June, the event’s ‘music and movies’ theme saw a wide range of entertainment, including a Morris Dancing competition, a fancy dress competition, and a prize for best float.

The Britannia Wrestlers were back by popular demand, and George Simon’s Funfair had plenty of rides and competition stalls for all the family to enjoy.

Little Acorns, Ruthin & Denbigh Gymnastics Club, and Denbigh Rugby Club all attended, as well as the booming BATALA drummers.

The procession left from Caledfryn (the Council offices) on Smithfield Road before passing through Lenten Pool, over the High Street and down Vale Street, before turning onto Ruthin Road and Park Street to enter Middle Park (next to Denbigh Town FC, behind Denbigh Infirmary).

A spokesperson for the Carnival said: “We are so proud of everyone who took part in the carnival!

“It’s no mean feat to organise an event of this size, in the short time that we had as a new committee but we think that it went pretty well.

“We just want to let you know that you are all absolutely amazing – whether you were in the parade, performed at one of our arenas, helped us with the road blocks or helped us pick up litter (a completely thankless job!).

“You all did Denbigh so proud – so many of the vendors from outside Denbigh told us personally that they love coming to Denbigh as the community spirit is so wonderful, and they are absolutely right.”

“The Denbigh Carnival 2023 committee, and your town, appreciates every single one of you!”
