It is a family-run business welcoming guests warmly into the venue with gorgeous surroundings.

Andrew Gale, The Sunday Times, said: "Guests checking in at this striking Victorian hotel can pick rooms with views of the serene Llangollen Canal or opt for a vista of the more tumultuous River Dee.

"Those staying in the latter will also spy the footbridge designed by the fabulously named Exuperius Pickering in 1817."

Small Double rooms are available for £80 per night, with the Cambridge Suite offering an unbeatable stay for £225 per night.
