A SCHOOL in Ruthin has been donated tree stumps by a company selling logs, which it will use to enhance its outside area.

Ysgol Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd received the tree stumps for Mathew Davies, of JD Logs in Llanferres; Mathew is also the uncle of a pupil at the school..

JD Logs supply both softwood and hardwood logs and can deliver to Ruthin and surrounding areas.

Iona McKee, teacher at the school, said: “We are very grateful for the tree stumps and will be using them for a variety of activities in September.

“We will be using the logs as seating areas as part of the children’s outdoor learning delivery infrastructure. They can also be used as tables.

They are a much valued play resource and the children will be using them like wheels, to form assault courses, and form bridges.

“They are a brilliant natural resource. Diolch yn fawr!

“We are currently collecting more resources for our outside area in Key Stage One and also looking for various resources to develop a varied and interesting outside classroom for Key Stage Two.

“Many parents have been very supportive and helpful, and we appreciate this so much.”
