THE family of a kind fundraiser affectionately dubbed 'Mrs Christmas' has launch an appeal to give her the "send off she deserves".

Margaret Williams, 74, founder of North Wales Superkids, died on October 12.

For about 25 years, Margaret, who was married to Geoff and had daughter Becky, selflessly dedicated her life to North Wales Superkids.

In 2003, the charity was awarded a group MBE and in 2014, Margaret was personally awarded an MBE for her work with disadvantaged children and families in North Wales.

In a statement on Facebook, North Wales Superkids posted: "Her mission was to bring smiles to children across North Wales, and we can really only imagine how many tens of thousands of lives she has impacted.

"Everyone who was lucky enough to know or meet Margaret will have a story to tell, and we know she will be so terribly missed by many."

A GoFundMe page, set up by Amie Jones, added: "Margaret Williams MBE dedicated her life to charity and the needs of others. Her focus was to ensure no child in North Wales went without. She worked tirelessly to make sure children who had very little got Christmas presents, went to pantomimes and had wonderful holidays.

"Margaret, twice started North Wales Superkids 25 years ago from her living room, building the charity year on year. It's no exaggeration to say she has helped tens of thousands of children in need from her 'grotto' in Mold in that time.

"We, her family, would very much love to give her the send off she deserves and celebrate her wonderful achievements, her selfless life and her incredible heart."

North Wales Superkids takes in areas from Wrexham to Holyhead.

Tony Flynn, Margaret's brother, recently did "everything in his power" to get his sister mobile again.

An appeal was put out to get Margaret a mobility vehicle to get to her place of work, known as "the grotto" in Mold, from her home in Flint. She wanted to be hands on once again, rather than be on the end of the phone to her volunteers who work non-stop throughout the year.

Tony, who lives in Prestatyn, said at the time: "Never in my life have I met such a dedicated, giving and generous human being as Margaret.

"When she is made aware of a desperate story involving a child in North Wales, she pulls out all the stops and it's not wise to say no to her, because she will not give in."
