AN MS WILL take part in a tough marathon to raise money for St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph.

Gareth Davies, MS for Vale of Clwyd, has signed up for the Conwy Half Marathon on November 19. The race starts / finishes at Conwy Quay.

The route runs along the road near to the Conwy River and takes in Deganwy, the West Shore in Llandudno, Church Walks towards Llandudno Pier and the Great Orme.

Mr Davies said: “Although I'm slightly nervous, I’m delighted to be taking part in this years Conwy Half Marathon and to be raising money for St Kentigern Hospice.

"I usually run twice a week to keep myself fit but they’re nowhere near the distance of a half marathon, so I’m really having to up my game to bring myself up to half marathon standard fitness over the next fortnight.

"I’m a big guy so I have to work hard to maintain a good level of fitness and with the route having the Great Orme in it, it will certainly pose a challenge for me but I’m determined to complete it in a respectable time and will do all I can to raise money for St Kentigern and raise awareness of the fantastic work they do on a daily basis to provide top class holistic care packages to patients and their families at the end of life.
