ORGANISERS of the eagerly-anticipated Llangollen Illuminated Tractor Run have confirmed that they have hit their '50 tractor target' ahead of this weekend's event.

The inaugural Llangollen Illuminated Tractor Run proved to be popular when it took place last year.

Hundreds of people braved the cold and rain to watch around 20 tractors make their way from the Pavilion field to St Martin's and back again to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance and the DPJ Foundation.

The event was such a success that its organisers - the Vale of Llangollen Rotary and the Llangollen Young Farmers Club - have decided to bring it back again this year.

The second annual Llangollen Illuminated Tractor Run will take place this weekend from 5pm on Sunday (December 3).

And the team of organisers have now confirmed that this year's event will feature at least 50 tractors.

As well as that, before the mesmerizing spectacle begins, between 4pm and 5pm, all tractors will be on display to guests at The Pavilion.

A statement from the team of organisers read: "Well this is wonderful news - very excited that we've reached our 50 tractors target. Look forward to seeing you this Sunday."

Building on the success of last year's event, this year promises to be even more spectacular, featuring an extended route and a convoy of brightly lit tractors.

Starting at 5 pm from The Pavilion in Llangollen, the illuminated tractors will embark on a picturesque journey through Llangollen, Trevor, Acrefair, Plas Madoc, Ruabon, Rhosllanerchrugog, Rhostyllen, Bersham, Wrexham, Morrison's Carpark (for a 45-minute stop), Bersham, Minera, Bwlchgwyn, Llandegla, Horseshoe Pass, and finish back at Llangollen.

Volunteers, identifiable by their high-visibility vests and badges, will line the route with collection buckets.

This year the event aims to raise funds for three worthy causes - The Teenage Cancer Trust, Nightingale Hope Hospice, and a community defibrillator.
