A CHARTERED accountancy firm in Ruthin raised more than £700 for a Waen-based non-profit organisation by selling Christmas cards which it designed itself.

Hill & Roberts, based on Tan y Castell, donated proceeds from the cards to Gofal Dydd y Waen, which needs to raise £40,000 annually to remain open, and relies totally on donations and fundraising.

It provides twice-weekly day care, community meals, podiatry, music therapy and complementary therapies free of charge for people of all ages living with serious illness.

The cards, which raised a total of £728, were drawn and designed digitally by Hill & Roberts partner Ffion Hampson’s two daughters, Nanw and Mabli.

They came in two designs; one of Clwyd Street, and the other of Record Street, both in Ruthin, and were available in both English and Welsh.

Ffion said: “We are grateful for the local support and we also had some orders from south Wales and overseas.

“Over the last three years, the sale of our custom designed cards has raised nearly £3,000 for good causes locally.

“We will have new design cards again this year, and these will be available in our coffee morning in the summer, on our stall at the Denbigh and Flint show, and at our office at Christmas.”
