TRIBUTES have been paid to a "dedicated" St John Ambulance volunteer and "true gentleman".
John Jones, divisional officer in charge (DOIC) of St John's Holywell division, sadly died in late April after bravely battling illness - aged just 39.
His wife, Nickky, paid a touching tribute to him. She said: "John was a true gentleman through and through. He was a dedicated family man, beloved son, brother, uncle, father and taid (grandfather).
"His pride and joy are his children Isabella and Joseff, alongside his granddaughter, Harriet Eira. Being his wife and partner in life was and will always be an honour and privilege.
"His loss has left a large hole in our family.”
St John Ambulance Cymru's Prior for Wales, Paul Griffiths OBE KStJ DL, said: “John was a valued member of our volunteer team, having been the DOIC of our Holywell Division.
"He will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathies are with John’s family, friends and fellow volunteers at this sad time.”
Announcing news of John's passing on X (formerly Twitter), St John Ambulance Cymru - North Wales described him as "one of our most dedicated members in North Wales".
They added: "John lived and breathed St John Ambulance Cymru and epitomised the @SJACymru values. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
Jason Killens, chief executive of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, posted saying: "So sorry to hear about the passing of John. Thoughts of the team here at @WelshAmbulance are with you at this difficult time."
