A HEAVY downpour over the weekend flooded a pub on the Denbighshire border resulting in a temporary closure.
After a week of sunshine, the We Three Loggerheads pub situated on Ruthin Road, near Mold, was faced with flooding from torrential rain in the area.
On Sunday, May 11 an amber alert was issued by the Met Office for rain and thunderstorms across north Wales after a week of high temperatures.
The 17th-century pub was faced with heavy showers from approximately 6pm until 9.30pm which created a river of water gushing through the car park and entranceway.
Landlady Fiona Percival said: "The pub bar was completely flooded. It went from a lovely day to a torrential downpour.
"The drains on the road appeared to be blocked and as a consequence it flooded the car park and then the bar. A regular customer said he had never seen the pub flood in the 30 years he had been drinking at The We Three.
"A big thanks to our staff, and some of our regulars, who bucketed out most of the water it is now in the process of drying out.”
Pub supervisor Callum Norman confirmed that while no damage was caused the team has been working tirelessly in a clean-up operation to ensure the business reopens to customers before the weekend, and is doing so today.
Callum said: “It was a shock to the system. Myself and my colleagues have been working long hours to get the pub back open (May 16)."
The Met Office has confirmed the weather will remain unsettled this week with scattered showers and sunny spells forecast.
