One person was airlifted to hospital following a collision on the Horseshoe Pass, ambulance chiefs have confirmed.

The Leader reported on Monday afternoon how the mountain pass above Llangollen was closed following the incident.

Police urged motorists to avoid the area as emergency teams dealt with the situation.

An eye-witness said a car had come off the road and ended up in a ravine.

"We sent one air ambulance, one operations manager, two emergency ambulances and one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit to the scene.
