Ruthin's Nantclwyd y Dre is set to offer a new sensory experience.
From 2025, visitors to the historic house will be able to experience the sights, sounds, and now, smells of the timber-framed townhouse.
The house has introduced immersive aromas in each of its period rooms, adding to the period costumes, soundscapes, and activities introduced last year.
These scents, crafted by AromaPrime, creators of speciality aromas for museums and tourist attractions, aim to transport visitors through the centuries.
Visitors can expect to encounter the rich, smoky aroma of tallow candles in the medieval room, fruit punch in the parlour, biscuits in the Edwardian room, and delicate roses in the Georgian bedroom.
Councillor Emrys Wynne, lead member for Welsh language, culture and heritage, said: "The use of scent in museum and heritage settings is nothing new, but what has increased is our understanding of how the sense of smell is the one most linked to emotion and memory.
"Imagine using your sense of smell to relive the past.
"I urge everyone to come and see (and smell!) what it’s all about."
Each room now tells its story not just through its sights and sounds, but also through smell.
Visitors are invited to experience the story of Nantclwyd y Dre in this new way from Thursday to Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm (last entry at 3.30pm), until September 30, 2025.
