A supporter of Ruthin's historic Pool Park Estate's restoration project has jetted in from the USA.
Carlyle Bagot, a member of the Bagot family, who previously owned the estate, flew into Wales from California on a mission to research his family's history.
His trip presented an opportune moment for him to visit Pool Park Estate and meet with the project's current owners, Andrew and Louisa Godfrey.
Accompanied by his cousin, Commander Charlie Bagot Jewitt, the pair represent direct lineage from William Bagot, the 2nd Lord Bagot.
Lord Bagot was pivotal in rebuilding the estate between 1826 and 1829.
Ms Godfrey said: "It was wonderful to show Carlyle around the manor house and the wider site.
"He’d flown in from Sacramento, and visiting Pool Park was an important part of his trip because he is currently researching the family tree."
She further said Carlyle was 'amazed' by the historical significance of the estate and the architectural details.
Following an extensive site tour, the family treated the visitors to a meal at Ruthin Castle.
Their visit also included a trip to Bachymbyd Fawr, a property neighbouring the estate which was once owned by the Bagots.
Mr Godfrey, who runs the family-owned facilities management and cleaning company Godfrey Group, said they have formed 'close links' with Commander Bagot Jewitt since acquiring the listed building at the beginning of the year.

Mr Godfrey plans on restoring both the manor and gardens to their 'former state' as part of an extensive renovation plan for the estate.
He said: "It was fantastic to have the opportunity to meet with Carlyle on his recent trip to the UK and give him a tour of Pool Park and discuss our extensive renovation plans.
"Our primary aim for the Pool Park site is to sympathetically restore both the manor house and the gardens to their former state and to preserve the wonderful history of this site, so that generations may appreciate it for years to come.
"We want more people to know about Pool Park Estate so that we can bring visitors to the area and help support local businesses in Ruthin and the surrounding areas."
Pool Park was previously an extensive hunting park, originating in the middle ages and one of five belonging to Ruthin Castle.
