A VEHICLE went through the central barriers and ended up in a ditch on the A55 at Rhuallt Hill.
North Wales Police said earlier on March 25 that they were dealing with multiple road traffic collisions at Rhuallt Hill. They claimed the accident(s) had happened "due to poor road conditions."
The eastbound carriageway was initially reduced to one lane.
The road was later closed in both directions to allow emergency services to attend the scene, including the Wales Air Ambulance.
A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "We received several calls from 9.47am today (Wednesday) reporting a road traffic collision on Rhuallt Hill involving a vehicle travelling eastbound that had hit the central barriers and entered a ditch.
"Officers attended alongside colleagues from Welsh Ambulance University Health Trust, North Wales Fire and Rescue Services. Both carriageways were subsequently closed to allow the Wales Air Ambulance to land at 10.54am."
A spokesperson for the Wales Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm the Wales Air Ambulance helicopter attended an incident in that region today.
"Our Caernarfon-based crew was allocated at 10.40am and arrived at the scene at 11.07am.
"Our involvement concluded at 12.10pm."
During the incident, there was heavy congestion westbound from J31 Prestatyn/Caerwys and eastbound from J27 St Asaph. Traffic is now reported to have cleared.
North Wales Police confirmed the road reopened shortly after midday.
