Mold road and footpath closed over health and safety concern

The orders were issued by Flintshire County Council due to health and safety concerns affecting the sites.

A six-month closure is in place for a 270-metre section of Public Footpath No. 54, which runs from Public Footpath No. 48 to Well Street.

This measure follows drainage issues on the path and works taking place adjacent to the site.

The order took effect on April 10 and is expected to remain in place for 6 months, unless work is completed sooner.

A separate closure on Factory Pool Lane also came into force on April 14.

This closure followed a variation order to the original traffic order, issued on August 26 2025, “to prevent access by cyclists and pedestrians on Factory Pool Lane, between its junctions with A541 Denbigh Road and Gwenaffield Road, Mold County of Flintshire for public health and safety purposes.”

It affects the section between the junctions with A541 Denbigh Road and Gwenaffield Road.

Unlike the footpath closure, the variation applies to both pedestrians and cyclists.

The restriction is in place for up to 18 months but is expected to continue until January 31, 2027.

It is linked to construction work for an Anwyl Homes development.

Flintshire County Council has confirmed that alternative routes for vehicles and pedestrians will be clearly marked.

Pedestrian access to properties on or adjacent to Factory Pool Lane will be maintained throughout the closure.

Closure orders are issued by local authorities under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to restrict public access for health and safety reasons or to allow works to be completed safely.
