Denbighshire council says the closure will be in place from July 20 until August 31.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
The official diversion is via Henllan Place, the Lenten Pool roundabout, Lenten Pool, Smithfield Road, Lon Llewelyn and Gwaenynog Road.
Although the works are expected to be completed by August 31, the closure order will remain in place for up to 18 months, allowing for any delays.
