Ruthin Road, Denbigh, will be shut in both directions from August 3 to August 28 to allow for gas mains replacement works by Wales & West Utilities.
The closure will operate along the stretch between the junctions of Ystrad Road and Trewen.
A diversion will be in place.
This will take traffic along Ruthin Road, the A525 Ruthin Road to Whitchurch Road roundabout, Rotary Road, A525 to Ty Coch roundabout Denbigh and Rhyl Road.
Denbighshire County Council said the order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months but is only expected to be needed for the duration stated.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
