EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a major incident on Anglesey following a crash reportedly involving a RAF Hawk T2 jet.
The crash took place this afternoon, with eyewitnesses reporting seeing a plane catch fire and crash shortly after take‑off, with both crew members ejecting safely.
Early information has been circulating rapidly across local Facebook groups and aviation communities, with eyewitnesses describing a “massive bang”, parachutes in the air, and a black plume of smoke rising from the mountainside.
North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and Welsh Ambulance service are in attendance.
RAF Valley and the Ministry of Defence have not yet issued an official statement.
The condition of the pilots is not confirmed, though multiple witnesses say both successfully ejected.
RAF Valley is home to the Hawk T2 fleet, used to train the UK’s next generation of fast‑jet pilots. Incidents involving ejection are rare and typically trigger a full military investigation.
A police spokesperson said: "Local officers are currently in attendance to reports of an incident involving an aircraft in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey, alongside colleagues from North Wales Fire and Rescue Services, Welsh Ambulance Service University Health Trust and Helimed.
"Please avoid the area until further notice. Updates will be issued when appropriate."
