IT WILL 'come to a point' when the number of suspected coronavirus related deaths in North Wales are published daily, Wales' First Minister has said.

Mark Drakeford, at the daily Welsh Government coronavirus briefing, said the fact not all regions' latest coronavirus death toll is published is "constantly under review" by Public Health Wales.

As it stands, numbers of suspected coronavirus deaths are only published for four out of Wales' seven regional health boards - and that includes Betsi Cadwaladr.

Public Health Wales cites the “relatively small numbers involved and the need to maintain patient confidentiality” as two main reasons North Wales deaths aren't being published.

Questioned on whether it was in the public interest to have numbers of deaths published for all Wales' health boards, Mr Drakeford said: "Public Health Wales is keeping this under review.

"As the weeks go by and the numbers get bigger in any one part of Wales, so the risk of patient confidentiality being breached decreases.

"I am sure we will get to a point where Public Health Wales will be able to publish on a health board basis."
