INSPIRED play saw Llanferres overwhelm Flint Phoenix in North East Wales Badminton League action.
In Division One, Llanferres A pulled out all the stops to overwhelm visitors Flint Phoenix B 6-2.
Undefeated Phil Roberts was the player of the match for Flint and together with the talented Zoe Moorcroft, they were victorious at first mixed where they out-manoeuvred Carys Jones and Figo Man to win 21-19, 21-14.
In Division Three, George Hood and John Speed were Holywell B’s only winners in their 7-1 defeat at Denbigh B.
This first men’s doubles match was a thrilling spectacle versus the home pairing of James Comes and Caeron Jones.
Hood and Speed were quicker about the court and they held their nerve in the deciding game to win 21-18, 19-21, 21-18.
Still in the hunt for promotion, Llanferres C made their way to take on Prestatyn B and they duly whitewashed the seasiders 8-0.
Sarah Jane Wynne starred for Prestatyn and together with Simon Brennan, at third mixed, they faced the strong pairing of Moira Bonar and Gareth Davies.
While Brennan and Wynne took the first game 21-19, the second went to Bonar and Davies by the same score.
With all to play for in the decider, the lead constantly changed hands and in a thrilling battle which involved long punishing rallies there was nothing to chose between the two pairs.
In the end, two unforced errors decided the event with Bonar and Davies taking the third game and the match by a deserved 27-25.
