A GOOD batting effort laid the foundation for a successful North Wales Cricket League weekend for Denbigh 2nds.

The first Division Four encounter of the season saw them pay a visit to Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn.

Getting beyond 200 batting first set Denbigh up to claim a maximum 15 points on the day.

On a warm afternoon, visiting skipper Stuart Moulden elected to bat first after winning the toss.

There were plenty of decent efforts on show throughout the Denbigh innings.

Sion Tudur Williams top scored with 44 batting at number four, well supported by David Schrimshaw (42), Will Rowlands (31), Arun Thiru (13) and Moulden (13).

When the 45 overs were up, Denbigh had reached 208-8.

Graham Houghton (3-30) and Tom Hall (3-40) were the main men with the ball for the hosts, while other wickets went to Cameron Roche (1-37) and Adam Antrobus (1-40).

Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn never recovered after a poor start to their reply and they were dismissed for 80 in the 26th over.

Tom Hall (21), Dave Markey (17) and Cameron Roche (16) were the main contributors.

For Denbigh, Gethin Williams was in superb form to claim 4-27.

David Schrimshaw and Sion Tudur Williams completed good all-round showings by bagging 3-20 and 2-14 respectively.
