LLANGYNHAFAL 5
LLANDYRNOG 1
PLAYING in a central defensive position isn't denying Garmon Hafal goalscoring opportunities.
The Llangynhafal talisman netted four times in his side's comfortable 5-1 Thursday night success at home to Llandyrnog.
Jimmy McNally's charges are still seeking their first victory of the campaign, but they put in a determined effort in the gloomy conditions.
Llandyrnog edged possession in the opening period, but they still went into the break trailing.
Tom Seddon was fouled in the box with three minutes of the first half remaining and Garmon Hafal tucked away the penalty.
That was tough luck on talented Llandyrnog keeper Jake Jones, who had earlier pulled off a superb save to deny Charlie Caton.
Llangynhafal doubled their advantage seven minutes into the second period and this goal came via another spot kick.
Chris Williams fouled Seddon in the area and once more Hafal converted the spot kick.
However, it was game on once again when Llandyrnog pulled a goal back in the 69th minute.
Another penalty award resulted in Josh Jones finding the target.
That's as good as it got for the visitors, though, and Llangynhafal restored their two-goal cushion within two minutes.
Charlie Caton's effort went in off the post and while the ball went through the net, a goal was rightly awarded.
Four minutes later and Garmon Hafal had his hat-trick via a towering header.
That sealed victory for the home side and another Hafal header made it 5-1 in injury time.
