IT proved to be a tough day at the office for Corwen in North Wales Cricket League Action.

Their latest Division Two contest was a trip to face Menai Bridge 2nds on Saturday.

The visitors didn't have the best time at the crease as they were invited to bat first on the day.

Opener Richard Harris (11) was the only batsman to reach double figures as the War Memorial Park side found themselves being bowled out for just 37 in 22.1 overs.

Corwen were also able to benefit from a total of 13 extras, while the pick of the Menai Bridge bowlers turned out to be Daniel Surgey (3-1) and Aiden Williams (3-16).

There were also wickets for George Roberts (2-9) and Phil Smith (1-9).

In reply, Menai Bridge eased to a winning 38 without loss inside six overs.

Chris Williams (21 not out) and Ben Evans (13 not out) made sure that Menai Bridge picked up maximum points from their efforts.

RHEWL 26

LLANGOLLEN 27-0

THE action was all done and dusted inside 20 overs.

There was a Denbighshire encounter in Division Four of the North Wales Cricket League as Rhewl played host to Llangollen.

In a quickfire contest, Llangollen managed to claim all 15 points that were on offer, which boosted their hopes of securing promotion come the end of the campaign.

Rhewl won the toss and they opted to bat first on the day.

However, the home batsmen were all back in the pavilion inside 18 overs as Rhewl were bowled out for just 26.

Dave Bell was the top scorer with eight runs.

Llangollen required just a couple of bowlers to dismiss their hosts, with Richard Hughes claiming a fine 4-8 from nine overs.

Geraint Wyn Jones bagged 4-12 from 8.1 overs.

In reply, Llangollen needed just 2.3 overs to reach a winning 29-0.

Tom King struck an unbeaten 19 and Arthur Jenkins hit 10 not out.
