LLANUWCHLLYN 4

BRYMBO 1

WHAT a weekend it turned out to be for Llanuwchllyn.

The Gwynedd villagers played host to Wrexham Area League Premier Division leaders Brymbo and a brilliant display saw them thrash the high flyers by a 4-1 margin.

It was Brymbo who were on top during the initial stages and they took the lead with a terrific strike in the 13th minute.

Billy New's shot from all of 25 yards found the bottom corner of the net.

However, Llanuwchllyn weren't behind for long and when the ball was sent into the box, Joe Evans found the target to make it one-apiece.

Things got even better for Llan when a corner saw Dave Prysor free to stab the ball into the net.

Brymbo looked to respond and when Ben Kearney was sent in the clear, he was denied by a good save from Rob Dascalu.

The visitors had a terrific opportunity to level things up once more late in the first half, but Dascalu was again at his best to deny Jamie Cumming.

Llanuwchllyn had some breathing space when they extended their advantage after an hour.

Sam Evans scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

More good news was to follow with 10 minutes left to play when Tom Watkin found the net after his initial attempt was saved.

Turning to the Reserves' Division and it was also a successful weekend of action for Ruthin Town Reserves.

Goals from Dave Finnie and Dave Wilkins made sure Ruthin were able to pick up their first win of the season.
