BALA TOWN 3

BRILLIANT Bala Town delivered an impressive team display in their spot of Friday night football at The Rock with a first half demolition of Cefn Druids.

The Lakesiders started in strong fashion and from the outset, they were looking dangerous on the counter attack, with Henry Jones, Louis Robles and Chris Venables looking to cause problems early on.

Town didn't have long to wait before they broke the deadlock as they went ahead after 10 minutes of play.

Louis Robles picked the ball up in midfield, drove towards the box and picked out an unmarked Lassana Mendes, who hit the ball first time from the edge of the 18-yard box into the bottom left hand corner to give Town the lead.

They could have gone further ahead from the restart when a short corner by Henry Jones came back to him and when he squared across the face of goal towards Robles, his backheel flick crept inches past the far upright.

With 15 minutes on the clock, Bala extended their lead.

Sean Smith pulled the ball into the area from the byline into the path of Henry Jones, who struck first time into the net, with his effort taking a slight deflection off Peate.

Bala were queueing up for opportunities.

Venables set up Mendes, who fired into the side netting from five yards, prior to Venables heading over the crossbar.

The Lakesiders' pressure continued, with Robles putting the ball into the net, but having it cancelled out due to offside, before Bala did make it 3-0.

A looping cross from the right by Robles saw Venables jump higher than anyone to head downwards.

The ball bounce off the back of Jones back into Venables' path and he volleyed into the top left hand corner on 37 minutes and to give his side a healthy 3-0 half-time lead.

After such a dominant first half, Druids came out with a bit of fight in the second half as they looked for a reply.

A free kick on the edge of the D saw Neil Ashton rattle the base of the post, which was a let off for the Lakesiders.

Town weathered the storm and they took back a hold of the match with the midfield of Mendes, Burke and Smith pulling the strings.

Nathan Burke blazed over the crossbar from 30 yards, before Henry Jones tested from distance and saw his effort palmed away by Jones in the Druids net.

Hayes, Leslie and Molyneux were introduced with Town looking to further their advantage.

In the closing stages, Burns put a teasing ball into the area, but neither Hayes or Venables were able to capitalise on the chance and Druids cleared the danger.
