ST ASAPH CITY 1

HOLYHEAD HOTSPUR 3

IT was always going to be a testing weekend for St Asaph City against one of the favourites to claim this season's Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One title.

The Saints played host to Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday, with the Anglesey side winning by a 3-1 margin to move back to the top of the standings.

Two first half goals had the visitors in control by the time the half-time whistle was sounded.

Rob Jones handed the high-flyers the lead on 36 minutes and Dan Garney doubled the advantage a minute shy of the interval.

Back came St Asaph when they were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute and this was converted by James Williams.

However, it was Holyhead's day and Alex Jones' strike sealed things in the closing 20 minutes.

Llandyrnog United are still searching for their first Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League point of the season after slipping to a weekend loss.

The villagers' latest Division One contest was a home meeting with Llanrwst United, who extended their 100 per cent winning record away from home courtesy of a 4-1 scoreline.

Callum Parry opened the scoring for Llanrwst in the 13th minute and this was followed by an own goal to make it 2-0 at the interval.

Ross Gilbert did pull a goal back for Llandyrnog 12 minutes into the second period, but Llanrwst made sure of things via further strikes from Sam Jones and another by Callum Parry.
