BALA TOWN 5

THE Lakesiders ran riot on Friday night football with a sublime second half performance to keep another clean sheet and add another five goals to their tally.

The start was quite scrappy and it was the home side who looked brightest as they passed the ball around well.

They started to build some momentum, with Marc Williams forcing Josh Tibbetts into an early save, before Edwards placed a header wide of the post.

Bala’s backline was busy, as Jonny Spittle and Anthony Stephens cleared the danger on a number of occasions.

Aber almost went ahead on 15 minutes when Phillips drove forward and after passing the ball to the wing, he got on the end of the returning cross, but Tibbetts saved well.

Bala replied with a sustained spell of pressure in the Aber half, with Henry Jones and Louis Robles pressing.

With 28 minutes played, the visitors took the lead.

A fantastic counter attack from Chris Venables saw him flick the ball through Jenkins’ legs into the path of Henry Jones, who took it in his stride and blasted low into the back of the net.

Aber almost levelled from the restart when a corner came into the area and Williams' attempt rattled the bar.

A minute before the break and Bala doubled their lead.

Stephens flicked on Nathan Burke's corner an unmarked Robles got a crucial header to divert the ball into the net.

Bala’s second half display was much improved, with plenty of impetus in their play as they looked to build on their advantage.

A moment of class came in the 70th minute when Chris Venables made it 3-0.

He danced around Philips and unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner from the edge of the 18-yard box - firmly putting himself in contention for goal of the month!

The goals came flooding in and it was 4-0 just five minutes later.

Roberts' poor clearance fell to Henry Jones, who burst into the box after a one-two with Smith and set up Robles, who released a rocket of a right footed volley into the net.

Bala were playing with confidence and they were looking a threat each time they went on the attack.

Seven minutes from time and Bala had a fifth goal.

A Robles lob was pushed against the bar by Roberts, but the ball fell to Venables three yards out and he nodded it over the line.
