LLANRUG UNITED RESERVES 1

DENBIGH TOWN RESERVES 2

ANOTHER three-point haul has left Denbigh Town Reserves flying high.

The Central Park side came home from Llanrug with three points in the bag to move up to second position in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Reserves' Division table.

The two teams had met at the start of November in the cup and Denbigh ran out 2-1 winners on that occasion.

In that contest, Denbigh centre half Conor Jones had to volunteer to take the goalkeeper's position and he did admirably between the sticks.

Bizarrely, Denbigh won the latest match 2-1... and they did so without a recognised keeper once again.

Striker Andy Thomas stepped up to don the gloves for Denbigh.

Zak Ellis, from the development team, had impressed in his displays for the youngsters recently and he warranted his place in the starting XI.

Fellow development team player Alfie Harrison also joined the squad and he was on the bench.

Following a tight first half, the deadlock was broken right on the stroke of half-time by Denbigh's Matty Blake.

Town had some breathing space when they doubled their advantage eight minutes from time and Matthew Pendleton was the player on target.

It wasn't quite game over just yet, though, as Llanrug were awarded an 85th minute penalty.

Sion Evans converted it past Thomas to set up a grandstand finish.

However, Denbigh maintained their lead through to the final whistle.
