BLAENAU AMATEURS 1

DENBIGH TOWN 11

A GOAL-DEN Christmas awaits Denbigh Town following a brilliant display.

Dewi Llion's charges grabbed their highest goal tally for many a season as they won 11-1 at Blaenau Amateurs.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League’s top scorer Jake Walker helped himself to five of the goals, with captain Mark Roberts getting a hat-trick.

The onslaught started after only 23 seconds with what must be the quickest goal of the season.

Dan Clarke tricked a defender to send in a low cross and Walker controlled, turned and blasted it into the top of the net.

Within a minute, Denbigh were two-up.

Mark Roberts gathered the ball with his back to goal, turned and unleashed a curling shot from 25 yards into the top corner of the goal.

Roberts was unlucky two minutes later when his header hit the crossbar, while Denbigh stretched their advantage on 17 minutes.

Billy Holmes made a crucial interception just inside his own half, before good work from Dan Clarke and Jacob Barratt set up Mark Roberts to slot in his second goal.

Walker got his second after 26 minutes.

Mark Roberts' deep cross found Dan Clarke and with a one-touch control, the youngster laid the ball on for Walker to strike home from the edge of the box.

Denbigh’s confidence was in full flow and the fifth goal came on 29 minutes.

A long Jonathon Terry ball over the top had Mark Roberts sprinting past a defender and rounding the keeper to slot home for his hat-trick.

As half time approached, Roberts turned provider when his pinpoint cross found Walker in space 10 yards from goal to head home and claim his first half hat-trick.

The second half continued in similar fashion to the first, with Denbigh having all the possession.

Terry, Walker and Roberts all spurned opportunities to extend the lead.

The pressure had to tell and young Sion Jones played a superb through ball for Dan Clarke to fire in an unstoppable shot from 18 yards.

Manager Dewi Llion brought on 16-year-old Owen Heath for captain Mark Roberts after an hour and within minutes, he had won a corner following a great run.

Dan Clarke’s set piece found an unmarked Jonathon Terry to head home for the eighth.

Blaenau managed to pull a goal back a minute later after some confusion over one of their players receiving attention from a coach whilst the ball was still in play.

Denbigh’s defenders stopped playing believing the ball was dead, only for Meilir Williams to carry on and slot the ball under keeper Joe Griffith.

Blaenau had another attack soon after and Griffith dived low to parry a shot, only to see his defender’s subsequent clearance hit him straight in his face from six yards.

A dazed Griffith took a couple of minutes to recover before the game continued.

Owen Heath was proving a threat down his right wing and after he dribbled his way into the penalty area, his shot was saved by Cian Williams.

However, the rebound fell for Walker, who scored his fourth of the afternoon.

Jacob Barratt got Denbigh's 10th goal on 74 minutes.

The 18 year old made his way into the area and his shot deceived Williams before trickling over the line

Sion Jones created goal number 11 a minute later.

His quick free kick over the Blaenau defence saw the alert Walker running onto the ball and slotting home for his fifth.
