LLANDYRNOG UNITED 0
PENRHYNDEUDRAETH 1
A LAST minute goal cruelly denied Llandyrnog United a weekend point.
Playing host to Penrhyndeudraeth in their opening Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One contest of 2020, Llandyrnog appeared to be on course for a point as it remained 0-0 with time almost up.
However, in stoppage time, the game's pivotal moment arrived when Liam Jones grabbed a decisive goal for Penrhyndeudraeth.
Llandyrnog boss Jimmy McNally said: "Very disappointed to lose the game.
"I felt neither side deserved to win in all honesty, so to concede in stoppage time was a bitter pill to swallow.
"I felt Craig Jones was denied a stone wall penalty, but you have to respect the ref's call at the end of the day."
The standout player for Llandyrnog on the day was Nathan Rose, who worked tirelessly in the heart of the midfield.
McNally added: "We didn't feel threatened until the final moments of the game, but I'm sure our visitors could say the same."
