CYMRU DRAGONS 1

DENBIGH TOWN U-16s 2

JAKE Roberts struck his 10th goal of the season as Denbigh Town Rhinos overcame the elements against Cymru Dragons to bag all three points.

A bright start from Denbigh - who have barely played for months due to postponements - saw a well worked move from Gethin Rogers and Lewis Devine set up Iwan Moores, whose shot crashed against the crossbar.

The Rhinos were rewarded with the lead moments later, though, as Finn McCoole swept in from close range from a James Thomas corner.

McCoole should have added a second, while Roberts and Thomas both had chances to increase the lead before the home team smashed an first-half equaliser - a great counter that smashed in off Jake Jones' crossbar.

It was harsh on the excellent back three of Gruff Mars-Jones, Jake D Roberts and Callum Jones-Davies, who were excellent again.

The strong side wind and rain made for difficult conditions for the teams, but the football they produced was excellent.

Man of the Match Rogers thought he had scored as he tapped in a rebound to McCoole's shot, only to have the goal ruled out for offside.

Roberts, Thomas and Devine all went close before Roberts' winner.

A fantastic half-volley on the bounce following an excellent build-up gave Denbigh all three points.
